Can they both find a way to meet somewhere in the middle, find out, on this episode of EXIT Stage Left.

Starring (In Alphabetical Order)

Annamarie Macleod

Michael Navarra

EXIT Stage Left (Ep 1.3) The Table Read (Act II)

Welcome to the third episode of EXIT Stage Left - The Web Series.

New episodes coming soon (on the 10th & 25th of each month).

EXIT Stage Left is the story of The Lowry Theater Company and their attempt to stage a new play from a novelist turned first-time playwright and the seasoned director that returns to NYC to keep the production on track. or Tilzy.TV that describe the show as "a web series that follows the trials and tribulations of an off-Broadway theater troupe attempting to mount a new play while not killing themselves or each other."

Probably not the way I would have described the show, but I can see their viewpoint; though it makes our show sound a little more like a death sport than a look at the behind the scenes antics just beyond the Great White Way. Then again, it really doesn't answer my first question. So, is this a web series, I guess the answer is an emphatic YES, and NO.

I'll address the YES first.

Of course it is, we have a primary launch platform of this very website, the show isn't being screened at theaters, nor is it on DVD or available "at stores everywhere" so by definition, this has to be a web series. Though is it a web series like the rest of the current fare out on the inter-web? Not so much. While I am a fan of many of the shows online (and there are some incredible finds out there), I have watched as only a rare few have similar production values that our show boasts, these aren't videos of water-skiing squirrels (although I do like those) and so far the feedback we have received says that you have noticed that as well.

It has to be a web series as we continue to receive emails of encouragement, acknowledgement from the Twitter-verse (BTW follow us at EXIT_Stage_Left), scores of people saying they want longer and more frequent episodes, plus we are starting to see not hundreds, but thousands of viewers watching, downloading and enjoying the show on our site, Blip.tv, iTunes and many others (try this, Google EXIT Stage Left - The Web Series and see what comes up, I was surprised how many places you can see the show already). It has to be a web series as each episode is condensed down, tightly edited to work within the framework of a six to ten minutes slot. So YES, this is a web series.....but....

I guess I should address the NO.

When it comes down to it, this is much more than a web series, this is a television series, that just happens to screen on the web. If someone came down the pike and offered us a choice slot on a cable network (Dear HBO, please love our show, our number is 555-555-5555), we would rework the footage we have to make a show with a linear timeline, 30 minutes per episode and allow us the opportunity to build the characters faster and with greater panache. We shoot the show in high definition with multiple cameras, just like real TV. We have outstanding actors that have created living breathing characters, just like real TV, we have an incredible crew of production folk that work tremendously hard to make sure that a certain level of quality is maintained, yep, just like REAL TV.

Considering the work that goes on to make this show a reality, I think we have done an incredible job, so far...and I am constantly amazed at the response we have received, the feedback keeps getting better and I think the episodes will continue to evolve, with more of the overall story being told as each one unfolds.

So is this a web series or a television show, to be honest, I'm not sure it matters. Though there is one thing that I can definitively tell you, this show is a blast to make and I can't wait to see what's in store for the Lowry Theater Company, so call it a Buick if you want to, just keep watching and we will be here, or better yet, in the immortal words of Tom Snyder:

"Fire up a colortini, sit back, relax, and watch the pictures, now, as they fly through the air.”

Until next time,

Sinohui Hinojosa

Creator - EXIT Stage Left

EXIT Stage Left (Ep 1.2) The Table Read (Act I)

Welcome to the second episode of EXIT Stage Left - The Web Series.

New episodes We can hear it. EXIT Stage Left is less than 9 days away from launching.

Can you hear it?

Post-production on the first few episodes are well under way, additional scenes are being written, marketing has begun and we are starting to hear from people, anxious to see the first episode: The Table Read, Part One.

A common question that keeps coming up, is what is the series really all about? Well, it's so much easier to ask than to answer, as the performances, the writing and the editing all have a big hand in what that it is turning out to be. The music is setting another part of the tone and every time we see more footage, we realize that the strength of the actors make us more and more interested in who their characters are, where they are going and what will become of them.

So what is it all about?

In one word - THEATER.

Not just the world of theater or theatre depending on which you prefer (no worries, they are both acceptable), but the theater that comes from individuals working to create something new, from the behind the scenes aspects to the scenes we are capturing, to the way we recreate the feel of an actual theater company (or our version at least).

Then again, if you ask Wikipedia, they would tell you this about theater, "[it] has existed since the dawn of man, as a result of human tendency for story telling. Since its inception, theatre has come to take on many forms, often utilizing elements such as speech, gesture, music, dance, and spectacle, combining the other performing arts, often as well as the visual arts, into a single artistic form."

So this time, theater is a web series about theater, and coming to a computer near you, launching Christmas Day. See you soon.

LIVE Stage Performance...

<img style="float:left; The shows that combine both drama and comedy, just like real life. The shows with characters that stay true to their nature, though are able to adapt, change and flow with the story arc.

This is the story that Sinohui Hinojosa has created, with his producing partners Bernard Fok and Thomas A Koch, the story of EXIT Stage Left. A story that will unfold in front of your eyes, through the eyes of Jill Baynor and the Lowry Theater Company, through Tim Haggard and the play A Wonderful World and through the eyes of the director Ronny Simons as he struggles to keep it all together.

When Sinohui discussed his plan to include both improv and scripted elements to the mix, it was met with a combination of understanding and alarm, but the when he came up with the details and ways to craft the storyline together, his collaborators did more than listen. They jumped in and supported the story with additional ideas, production support and their own hard earned funding resources. Establishing a new series is not for the faint hearted, it requires an unending pool of resourcefulness and support, which came in the form of a wonderful editor and gifted composer Joel H Hinojosa, a supportive writing partner in David Hoekenga, plus the incredible help of the producers, the crew and the most amazing group of performers imaginable.

Picking up an additional duty as the key Director of Photography and technical adviser, Thomas A Koch manages the camera team, and continues to build a core group of filmmakers, both novice and seasoned to help make this a reality.

Now in its first season, EXIT Stage Left will be shot in 720p high definition and will be made available through Blip.tv for all of its first run episodes, later they will play on both YouTube and Myspace and can always be seen here at lowrytheatercompany.com

THE CORE IDEA

The show is a unique show within a show format, allowing the actors to inhabit the characters staging a play in NYC. It was always going to be a New York show, from the funky black box theater to the shots of off off-Broadway...but it was also a way to use multiple streams of video to tell one single story. In addition to each episode, there will be interviews with cast and crew, video blogging from one of the characters and even in-character behind the scenes footage that will target ways to tell this one single story.

We also hope to show you a glimpse of the play being staged, so be sure to stay tuned, subscribe to our video feeds at Blip.tv or YouTube and be prepared to watch the creation of something big, EXIT Stage Left, coming soon to a computer near you.

Preview 00:02 - Terry Nichols

Coming soon from Emerging Artist Productions:
The Lowry Theater Company Presents - EXIT Stage Left.

In many ways this is the story of Ronny Simons, who, as the director of the play is forced to keep the various personalities, problems and power-struggles from overwhelming the chance at crafting a quality production.

Ronny while known for his stagecraft, left Broadway over two years ago to pursue television directing (failing miserably and responsible for three trashed pilots this year alone), he has been called back to Broadway (or a close approximation thereof) to save the production of A Wonderful World for The Lowry Theater Company.

The acclaimed novelist Tim Haggard, is struggling to become the playwright Tim Haggard, by turning one of his award-winning worst-sellers into the aforementioned play. Still having problems with the last act, Tim has ideas of his own on how the play should be run, unfortunately he has no clue what it takes to make a show stand up on its own. For that we turn to the young, yet incredibly proficient stage manager, Jill Baynor. Having grown up in and around The Lowry Theater Company, she represents the can do attitude that is desperately needed to keep a show like this running. As a 20% owner in her grandfather's theater, she takes the business very seriously and along with Courtney Nguyen, the company's set dresser and wardrobe specialist, they struggle to maintain peace, keep the rehearsals running on time and help out whenever possible.

Unfortunately for Ronny, the Tony-nominated (it was stolen, all politics, just ask her) Terry Nichols, has garnered enough of a name for herself, that the investors have bankrolled the production, as long as she was attached. An actress with a very unique perspective on how to play a role (she only memorizes her lines, never reads the story and performs on instinct), it turns out that Terry was a bit player a few years back on one of Ronny's shows, smitten and unable to share her "love" for him (not that he ever noticed), she is here for one reason and one reason alone, fate has reached out and given her the ever elusive, second chance.

With the remaining actors Charlie, Roger and the ingenue Ava waiting in the wings, the director's right-hand assistant (the lovely Mara Lansing) standing by, EXIT Stage Left is a story told from many perspectives, the least of which, being through the lens of NYU documentary filmmaker Pam William, as she attempts to follow the making of, the making of the production.

Confused? We understand, but think of it this way.

EXIT Stage left is a look at the men and women behind the curtain, from the auditions to opening night, a series with a bit for everyone, comedy, drama and touch of madness all coming from the stages of The Lowry Theater Company.

C'mon in, we have your ticket right here!
